We’re delighted to share that Terrie, our site manager at Old Dairy Way, has been presented with two Local Authority Building Control (LABC) site manager awards, a fantastic personal achievement that reflects the care and commitment he and the whole team have brought to this development.

LABC — Local Authority Building Control — is the network of building control teams operating through local councils across England and Wales. Their inspectors visit sites throughout the build process, reviewing structural work, materials, energy performance, and construction methods against the required standards.

The LABC site manager award is presented to individuals who demonstrate exceptional quality and leadership on site. Surveyors see hundreds of sites a year, and the award is only given where the quality of workmanship and site management genuinely stands out. Receiving it once is an achievement — receiving it twice is a real mark of consistency.

Every new home must meet building regulations, that’s the legal baseline. But there’s a significant difference between a build that passes inspection and one that earns recognition. LABC awards exist to draw exactly that distinction, highlighting the site managers whose attention to detail, workmanship, and leadership go beyond what’s simply required.

For Terrie to receive two awards at Old Dairy Way tells its own story. It means that across multiple stages and categories of the build, the standard of work was consistently high enough to warrant independent, professional recognition.

What LABC inspectors look for: Structural integrity and compliance with building regulations, quality of materials and construction methods, energy efficiency measures, attention to detail in areas that will later be hidden, foundations, insulation, drainage, and adherence to approved plans throughout the build.

While the awards are presented to Terrie as site manager, he’d be the first to say they represent the work of the whole team. LABC inspectors assess what gets built, and what gets built is the result of every tradesperson, contractor, and labourer who turned up and did their job well. These awards reflect everyone at Old Dairy Way.

LABC recognition gives buyers and future residents a meaningful, independent signal about the quality of their home. It’s not self-certified — it comes from the professionals who visited the site, inspected the work at every stage, and judged it against a high standard.
